The free edge of my nail (white part on the tip) starts quite low down - how can I try and make it go up?

I used to be a nail biter, and so, the free edge of my nail would start quite low in the nail.

However, I shook off the habit a few months ago, but the free edge of my nail still starts fairly low...is there a way I can get it to move up the nail, because right now, when the free edge grows fairly long, it still isn't reaching over the top of my finger!

Also, how can I strengthen my nails? I don't want to buy any of the medication or pills that will strengthen them, but is are there certain foods that will do the job?

Sorry, but that's irreversible. :( Cuticles are the ';skin'; near the base and sides of the nail. You can try pushing your cuticles down by pushing the skin around the nail away, but be careful there too, and don't push too much.

Nail's are mostly made up of calcium and iron, so I'd recommend dairy and ';healthy'; food (whole wheat, organic vegetables, etc). You can see which you need more of by examining your nails. Little white spots mean you lack calcium; long vertical lines engraved into your nails are indicators of iron deficiency.

Hope that helps. :)The free edge of my nail (white part on the tip) starts quite low down - how can I try and make it go up?
Are you pushing your cuticles down? Because you are not supposed to let the skin grow over your nails and this is why a lot of people have short nails looking nails.
