I just had a shower and when i came out i noticed my nails had gone a liquid paper white, roughly covered. I showed my sister and she said the same happened to her. I've also noticed that a majority of my nailpolish has come off aswell. What is in the water that has caused this? This is the 1st time its happened.Water that makes your nails go white?
My first guess would be an excess of Calcium in the water, followed by high levels of Magnesium (the two usually go together) and maybe Lime or Fluoride. If you use ground or well water (as opposed to piped municipal water) in particular then there's a high likelyhood that you have ';hard water'; (water with large deposits of calcium and magnesium) which is what I'd imagine is the problem. If you use municipal water you can always give them a call to see what's up, you are technically a paying customer after all. Of course whether they'll admit to accidentally putting in too much fluoride or lime or chlorine or whatever is another matter entirely...
In any case if this is the first time it happened then there's a high likelyhood that this is just a temporary situation. The lovely thing about water is that it keeps flowing after all.
